Eric Carle Fan

Parker in his Eric Carle onsie! Okay so maybe mommy is the Eric Carle fan but I know Parker will be. Scott and I both hope he loves to read as much as I do. We have already started a bedtime routine with a book before bed. I can't wait to find more book pets to go with the books we already have. Yesterday at Wal-mart I found "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything" and "Five Little Pumpkins"; two of my favorite books from my pre-school days. They are great for this time of year!

Since Last Time...

We took our first trip out to Constitution Square for the festival. Afterwards we all went to Guadalajara. We have even been back a second time! That is Parker is the sling. We have only used it the one time but he loved it!
Parker met two more cousins; Kody and Chase.
Parker is more and more awake all the time. Which can be a good thing and a bad thing. It just depends on what time of day it happens : )
He still makes the "oooo" face as I like to call it. This is the best picture I have managed to get. A couple times a day he lays around and makes faces. It is like having my very own little Jim Carey at home!
And I have went to the mall and spoiled him! I bought two adorable outfits. This one says little stinker and is from GAP. I bought jeans to go with it but there are pretty big. I know he will only were this stuff a couple of times but it so fun to make him look handsome! Everything was on clearance I promise : )
Sorry for the lack of posts but honestly each day is the same. We try to sleep at night and nap during the day. The biggest change is that I am no longer breastfeeding. The lifestyle was just not for me. And when momma ain't happy no on is happy! Parker goes to the doctor on Wednesday. I will post then to tell everyone how big he has gotten. Thanks to everyone who checks the blog often!

First Night Out

Last Friday we went on our first night out of the house. It was a small easy trip but it was great for mommy to get out of the house. Our friends Shayne and Kim invited us over to their house for dinner. It was a great place to go because they have a little one and had baby stuff we could use while we were there. We are so lucky to have such great friends! Parker wore the outfit Shayne and Kim bought him and he looked stylish in his frogs!

Photo Session

Good thing Cilla is going to do our newborn photo session because mommy is not a photographer! I have been trying to get some different types of shots of Parker but have not been that successful. This was my attempt at being a newborn photographer : )

Future UK Fan

Daddy's future UK fan! I see them watching games together very soon! Daddy loves this little hat we found at the hospital gift shop. Parker wasn't very cooperative for this photo session but you get the point.

Doctor's Appointment

Parker had his first check up on Wednesday (9/17) and it went great. He did not enjoy being stripped naked and even peed on the nurse. He gained back all of his birth weight that he had lost (11 ozs.) plus 2 ozs. putting him at an even 9 pounds. He measured a lot longer at the doctor so we think he was longer than 20 inches at birth. The doctor had him at 21 1/2 inches long. His weight is in the 95th percentile, length 90th percentile and head circumference was off the charts (just like his daddy).

I was very happy with the doctor and his check up. I was a little nervous about taking him to our family doctor instead of a pediatrician but I feel like it is going to be fine.

Visitors

Scott and I want to say Thanks to everyone who has held off on visiting us this past week. Most of you know I had a rougher than usual recovery due to complications with my bladder being knicked during my C-section and swelling after the delivery. It was not your typical first couple of days at home and it was nice to have time to ourselves.
We always want to Thank everyone that sent cards, food, thoughts and prayers our way. We are so blessed to have such a huge support system around us.
If you would like to come meet Parker please give us a call and we will let you know when would be a good time. Mommy is still trying to get the hang of breast feeding and Parker is on a crazy sleep schedule.
Thanks again to everyone who has checked on us. I apologize for not returning all phone calls, emails or comments.

Seamus is Here!

Seamus with big sister Abby and mommy.
One proud daddy introducing Abby to baby Parker.
Parker's buddy Seamus (SHAY-mus) arrived one day after he did. Stacy and I worked together last year and spend a lot of our summer together. So it was only appropriate that Seamus decided to enter the world the same weekend as Parker.

First Bath

Not a lot of time to stop and take pictures during a first bath but here are a few from the other night. Daddy did the holding and mommy did the scrubbing. We made a great team. It was a fun experience to have together. Parker did not scream at all during his first bath. We are curious to see how the second one goes.

Parker Meet Parker

My dad brought my grandparents over to meet Parker on Friday. It is their first great grandchild and they were thrilled to meet him. It means so much to me to have a picture of Parker with his great grandfather that he was named after.

Request

Scott and I are requesting friends and family to wait to visit until next week. Scott and I are not going home until tomorrow and have been exhausted at the hospital. We are anxious to get home and spend some alone time with Parker. We know everyone is excited to see him and hold him but we would appreciate if visitors would wait until the next week. Thanks for being understanding as Scott and I spend this quality time together with our new son Parker.

I will post a TON of pictures as soon as I get home. I am trying to do it from the hospital but the laptop I am using will not take my memory card from my camera. Don't forget to check my mom's blog as well. She posts lots of pictures there. You can find it to the right in the list of blogs I like.

Parker's Birth Story

Parker sure did a good job of making mommy wait to meet him. Labor started with a false alarm Thursday, September 4th. After a high leak water break, a few contractions and a trip to the hospital mom and dad were sit home to do some more waiting.

Friday, September 5th (the day mommy had picked from the beginning) I woke up with another leak. I called the doctor and they asked me to come into the office. While at the office contractions started coming on irregular and I was 3 cm. dilated and really thinned. We then made a trip over to labor and deliver to check in. We got there about 1:00 in the afternoon. The first 3 hours were great just hanging out having minor contractions. About 4:30 pm the contractions became more intense so I choose to start my epidural. The epidural was great and the pain was easily managed. I slowly dilated for the rest of the night pain free. At the time I had the best nurse you could ask for. I was really hoping to get to 1o cm. before she left so I could deliver with her. No such luck.

Saturday, September 6th: 3:30 am I hit 10 cm. and was ready to push. Unfortunately I was totally numb and had a really hard time pushing. I also did not know know that the nurse I was working with was not a labor nurse and was doing a really poor job of teaching me how to push. Basically this is when it all went down hill. My epidural started wearing off in spots and back labor started. From here until 10:00 I tried pushing on and off but it was not successful. I did get two AWESOME nurses at 7:00 am who did a great job of helping me try to get him out. I tried my hardest to push him out through the pain but I decided to go ahead with the C-section. When an Operating Room opened up at 11:00 am I went ahead and took it because Labor Hall was CRAZY that morning. The OR team that took care of me was great and we had a great time. Parker was successfully deliver at 11:54 am but I need to stay in surgery a bit longer to take care of my bladder that was knicked during the C-section. Nothing serious but I will be taking my catheter in for a week to make sure it heals properly. I was finally able to meet Parker at 2:15 pm in the recovery room.

I have slowly gotten back on my feet and am enjoying Parker so much. Scott has been such a great dad. Due to my complications and slow recovery with the C-sections Scott has been on 100% daddy duty since Parker has been here. On top of that he takes care of all my wants and needs. We are so thankful he is finally here and know it was all worth it. We even get to spend an extra day at the hospital with our little yellow jaundice baby. Thanks to everyone who has checked on us and offered to help us with everything. We can't wait for everyone to meet him once we get on our feet.
