Doctor Update

I went to the doctor for my monthly check up and everything is going fine. My blood pressure was really good and the doctor was okay with the amount of weight gain I have had. My doctor (Dr. Onan) is out on her maternity leave so I saw a different doctor (Allen) that I REALLY liked. She had an answer for everything. Not just a "that will be okay" or "that is normal" but a medical answer. My kind of woman! I was sitting there thinking I sorta hope she delivers me!
I did get some blood work done. I have been have moments where I feel like I am having an anxiety attack, sort of like my heart flutters and my chest tightens up. I have not been able to walk as often as I like because of it. So they wanted to do blood work to make sure everything looks good and if I am still having problems when I go back in 3 weeks I will have to see a cardiologists.
My next appointment in the early morning one where I have to drink the nasty Tang stuff on an empty stomach. So not looking forward to that but my dad is going to drive me up in case I do get sick and feel yucky.
Until next time!

Ain't What She Use To Be

The old gray mare,

She ain't what she used to be

Ain't what she used to be,

Ain't what she used to be

The old gray mare,

She ain't what she used to be

Many long years ago.

It is amazing what pregnancy changes about your body. Physically yes my body is changing but that is honestly not what bothers me the most. Sure I have put on my share of baby weight and there are parts of my body that aren't as pretty as the use to be. But I have confidence in myself that I will get my weight back down. The part of pregnancy that bothers me the most is the changes in what you are able to do. Last summer I mowed the yard (and trimmed) almost every time. I could spend all day in the sun working with flowers or just laying out and reading. Well this year things have changed!

#1 You burn EASY! I have put sunscreen (SPF 45) on twice today and still look red

#2 I swear the baby is in my lungs! I sound like an 85 year old woman with emphysema

#3 Your feet SWELL in the heat

#4 Anytime I get any type of cramp or pain I panic and stop what I am doing

#5 You can't bend down as far as you use to (due to large, hard basketball permanently placed under your shirt

Not complaining! Still loving my pregnancy and everything that comes with it but when people say pregnancy changes everything they mean it!

Belly Shot

It gets bigger everyday! 24 weeks and 4 days! Yesterday I watched the baby move. He has been going crazy here lately. He use to be really low all the time but now he up around my belly button and I can feel him like crazy. While I was laying on the couch yesterday afternoon I could see my stomach jump he was moving so hard. Scott wasn't home from work yet but this morning I laid down when I felt him start to move a lot and he felt him. We were so excited he was able to feel him move. Since my placenta is in the front we were worried it might be a few more weeks before Scott could feel him move.
We hope to hang some stuff in the nursery this weekend and I will post pictures of the bedding, letters and curtain.

Parker Meets the President

Okay not really but he was in my tummy while I listened to President Clinton speak. Yesterday Former President Bill Clinton stopped in Danville to campaign for his wife Hillary. The location was just a few blocks down from where I teach. So I walked down with my parents to check it out. There was a great turn out and we were lucky to get there so early because we had a great spot to stand. Here are a few pictures I borrowed from my mom's blog.

Putting Together the Crib

WOW! There were lots of parts! That is just box #1.

Scott was such a hard worker. I would have never figured out how to put the thing together. The directions are clear as mud, nothing is labeled and there are TONS of pieces.

I really did plan on helping but it was more of a man's job. I assisted when asked. Most of time I laid on the floor with the dogs. Yes that is Milly under my legs. This was the night Parker was moving like crazy. I swear he has 8 arms and legs. I can feel him above my belly button and down by my hips at the same time. My mom says this is pay back for the way I treated her while I was in the womb.

WHAT A MESS!

The finished product basically. Just a few more pieces.

My mom and step dad bought the bedding set and mattress over the weekend. We have that in the crib and are getting read to hang curtains, letters and shelves. I will post more pictures soon. I am really happy with what we ended up doing for his name on the wall. You will have to wait to see the final product!

My Pottery Barn Stuff Came In!

Parker's Diaper Bag. It is dark brown with blue lettering.
The coming home outfit! I plan on this being the outfit I put him in to come home from the hospital. Unless he is really little or really fat : )
Can you tell I like to have items personalized?
I am so excited to have a couple of items for the baby! I can't wait to start getting stuff. I have this uneasy feeling that the baby is going to get here and we still won't have anything for him. My mom just told me last night that she is going to get our mattress and bedding so that is one big item off the list! WHEW! And our crib came in last night and we are going to start putting it together tonight. I will post pictures as soon as it is together.

Picture Update

My belly at 23 weeks!

The color we painted the nursery. It really looks a little different than that but it is hard to get wall color to show up in a picture.

The blue flower Scott bought me for my first Mother's Day! He also found two really sweet cards for an expectant mother.

Thanks to everyone who had suggestions about letters. I think we are going to check BabiesR'us one more time, then Micheal's (thanks Karla). If we do not like what we find we are going to consider one of two things:

1. Scott making them himself (Thanks Tish)

2. Making a transparency of each letter and bringing home the overhead and painting them on the wall.

I will post more pictures as the nursery comes along!

Shopping for Parker

The nursery bug has hit! I am in a serious rush all of a sudden to get baby stuff. Scott started painting the room tonight and I ordered some stuff for Parker. I have been really good so far about not buying anything but I did give in and buy a nice diaper bag from Pottery Barn. We also decided to buy a crib instead of borrowing. We purchased one from JcPenney that is the combo. The crib comes with a set of shelves and small chest that sits againist the crib. It also converts to a toddler bed and full bed. I tried to but a picture on here but JcPenney won't let you steal their pictures.
We are also trying to find letters to put in the babies room and are having a hard time. BabiesR'us is always out when we are up there and they are too expensive everywhere I have found online. We don't want anything fancy because we are going to paint them to match the bedding.
I think now that I have bought a couple of things I will feel like I am getting something accomplished and be less frantic about getting the room up and going. Also my showers are getting ready to start so I can't wait to start getting stuff at the showers!
I will post pictures when we get the room finished and we start getting in our recent purchases.

Baby Montgomery's Namesake

Baby Montgomery will be Parker Scott Montgomery! A lot of people knew that already but this is my official blog announcement. He is going to be named after my grandfather who is in the picture of above. He was very pleased to find out that I was having a boy and I was going to call him Parker. (He was also talking a lot about me breastfeeding which was weird, but enough about that)
It is a well known fact that I am his favorite grandchild (well it is a tie between me and my sister). But I am a lot like my granddaddy and my mom even called me little Parker when I was a child. We both talk A LOT and complain a lot about our sicknesses.
It was a great time today spending time with Granddaddy. I just hope he is here when the baby gets here in September. I also found out where Granddaddy's name came from. His mom (Mama Ho) knew a man named Spalding Smith Parker (or something like that) and she just liked the name. It was hard to make out most of the story since Granddaddy is getting older.

Feeling the Baby Move....

is the greatest thing! This past week he has been moving like crazy! Especially at night about an hour after I eat. I just lay on the couch and am amazed at all the crazy things he is doing. I wish I could go get an ultrasound while he is moving like that. I would love to see what he is doing. I just wish Scott could feel him move but that is weeks away. I still have him put his hand on my stomach just in case. Other than that I feel great. I am growing like crazy. I just hope it is all baby and not my weight. I no longer weigh at home I leave that to the doctor's office. Believe it or not their scales have been more kind than mine at home. Just wanted to give a small update since it had been a few days : )
Thanks to everyone who has checked in and left such sweet messages. I have really enjoyed hearing from my Village friends who I have not seen in a long time. I have an appointment in Lexington on Wednesday, May 28th and am going to try to swing by during your lunch to say "Hi" to some old friends.
